Their quest led them to Al's RoboShack in Metropolis on planet Kerwan, where Al outfitted Clank with the Heli-Pack after recognizing Clank's compatible XP-18 sisterboards. The two then resolved to search for galactic hero Captain Qwark to help them defeat Drek. As Clank was equipped with the latest in robotic ignition systems, he was able to provide Ratchet a way to fly the ship. The two became acquainted, and Clank discovered Ratchet was unable to fly the ship, as he lacked a robotic ignition system.
Clank awoke to see Ratchet working on a new homemade ship, which impressed Clank. On Veldin, Clank was initially immobilized and rescued by a lombax named Ratchet, who took Clank to his garage. Shortly after his birth, Clank viewed an infobot that uncovered Drek's plan to extract a portion of planet Novalis and use it for his new planet, causing fled the factory immediately and steal an escape shuttle. The sentry-bots were built for Chairman Drek, who Clank's mother, a computer on the production line Clank was created from, harbored ill will towards. However, he was born on a production line in a factory producing sentry-bots on planet Quartu. Clank also at one point starred in a holovision show, Secret Agent Clank.Ĭlank being created and subsequently marked as a defect.Ĭlank had been created by his father, Orvus, at the Great Clock, with a Zoni soul. Clank has also wielded the Chronoscepter to manipulate time and access the Netherverse. Clank can sometimes transform into Giant Clank to become a more deadly robot with powerful weaponry. Clank is also capable of commanding help in the form of gadgebots, microbots, and Zoni. Clank also helps Ratchet in the form of attachments such as the Heli-Pack, allowing Ratchet to reach greater heights and storing all of Ratchet's weapons, as well as being able to access areas Ratchet cannot. He often acts as a contrast to Ratchet's more brash personality, serving as his voice of reason. Nefarious from trying to use the Clock to his advantage, Clank made Sigmund its caretaker and returned to his place at Ratchet's side.Ĭlank is highly knowledgeable in a variety of topics and able to communicate with many other machines. The Zoni helped Clank defeat Tachyon and afterwards, abducted him from Ratchet to take him back to the Great Clock, where he was supposed to take up his true destiny as Senior Caretaker of the Clock with Sigmund. When the two visited the Polaris Galaxy in their mission to defeat Emperor Percival Tachyon, Clank was met by a race invisible to the others known as the Zoni, who referred to him as the Chosen One. There, he met Ratchet, who became his lifelong best friend afterward, as they would partake on many adventures.
